The Nyabarongo River

I am standing here by the river side.

I hear birds singing merry and happy.

I see a carpet of papyrus, however

You’re the only one missing in this picture.

Nyabarongo river runs through a Thousand Hills.

The wide, deep and gentle flow heals our pain.

I ‘ve been asking myself what I could have done to save you.

I ‘m remembering what you once whispered‘ I love this river and this beautiful country.’

Today I took a trip down memory lane

to look back on your days and look back on your own life.

Nyabarongo river runs through a Thousand Hills.

The turbulent and powerful flow wash away our grief.

I’m asking myself what I ‘m able to do for you now.

If I could build a bridge to see you in heaven,

What shall I tell you by the river.

Nyabarongo river’s healing all our pain.

And it reminds us of you.
